Chris McConnehey is a lifelong West Jordan resident, husband, and father of five with a proven record of delivering practical results.
Chris served 12 years on the West Jordan City Council where he focused on solving real problems and improving day-to-day quality of life for residents while being careful with taxpayer dollars. During his time in office, West Jordan added police officers and firefighters to keep public safety services aligned with growth, upgraded playgrounds and parks, improved pedestrian safety through better crosswalk design standards, and started the city’s transition to more efficient and cost-effective LED street lighting.
He also worked to strengthen the city’s financial footing and long-term planning, advocated for modernized financial systems, and saved the city millions by pushing back on flawed purchasing practices. Chris led the push for modernized land use and zoning tools so the city could grow more thoughtfully, protected established neighborhoods from short-sighted decisions, and successfully opposed placing the state prison in West Jordan.
Professionally, Chris works as an Executive Product Advisor in the technology sector, helping organizations improve complex reporting and analytics systems. That work reinforces an approach he brought to city service: understand the numbers, plan for the long term, and make decisions that balance today’s needs with tomorrow’s obligations.
Chris and his wife, Noni, are raising five sons in West Jordan. Like many parents, they’re focused on kids’ well-being, staying involved in their education, making sure there are safe places to play and grow, and doing what it takes to support a growing family.
Chris believes the best decisions are made closest to the people they affect. He brings a local, results-driven perspective to state government - carefully weighing whether an issue truly requires state action, how it impacts individual rights, and whether the cost is something real families can afford. His focus is on practical solutions that respect communities, protect taxpayers, and deliver results close to home.
